Dell Inspiron Duo Now Available For Pre-Order at $549

Dell has been known to release some interesting products in the past with their 5-inch Streak Android powered tablet being a prime example. However, the Dell Inpsiron Duo is nothing like we’ve ever seen before.

At first glance the Insprion Mini Duo looks like a traditional netbook with its 10.1-inch LED backlit display, 1.5GHz dual core Intel Atom N550 procssor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 250GB hard drive, 1.3 megapixel camera, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and the like.

However, what makes the Inspiron Duo unique is the fact that its display rotates a full 180-degrees effectively turning the device into a slate tablet (much like the iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab) powered by Windows 7.

For those of you who are interested in such a thing, you will be happy to know that it has just recently been put up for $549 with an expected release date of early December.

Samsung Sells 600,000 Galaxy Tab Android Powered Tablets to Date

When it comes to tablets, Apple’s iPad is currently the reigning king but thanks to the prominence of Google’s Android mobile operating system, competition is quickly being brought to the table.

One such tablet powered by Google’s platform is the Samsung Galaxy Tab which touts a 7-inch screen, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and front/rear facing cameras. However, with a high price tag, many have wondered if the Galaxy Tab will be able to face off against the iPad.

Well, for those who doubted, Samsung has announced today that they have managed to sell 600,000 Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 powered Galaxy Tab tablets. This is a pretty amazing feat considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab has only been on the market for a few weeks.

While it’s quite early to tell if the Android ecosystem will be able to beat out the iPad, things are looking quite good for Google and their respective hardware partners.
